Writing Exercise – Words of the Day (04/25/22)
The spry hoary-haired woman stood in the lobby of her 4 bedroom cabin looking out over the water. The townspeople spoke of her as a mystical creature due to her eerie long life. She attributed her longevity to the paludal environment she was always surrounded by. She knew not how long she had lived but had seen generations of people pass from the town to under the cold stones that stood erect behind the steepled church on the hill. Many sought her counsel and asked to hold her soft wrinkled hand, saying how she was blessed, but secretly she knew it was a curse. A curse to be alone when they left and not knowing when she’d be equal.
